In the 1st period we evaluated our title sequence.
In the 2nd period we started our presentation for our pitch on wednesday. We had to write about the channel, time and schedule of our soap opera. We completed most of it and will finish it by wednesday.
In the 3rd period we started writing our scripts. We had to use speach but also the facial expressions, body language, movement, costume etc of the character. This was quite difficult as we had to include every detail and had to think carefully. We will continue with the script on wednesday.

Friday 12th December
In the single lesson today we made our audience questionnaire and completed this ready to hand out to people. Our next aim was to create a presentation about the channel and time we were going to show our soap opera on. We will start this in mondays lesson and have it completed by wednesdays lesson.
Thursday 11th December
In this single lesson we wrote about our title sequence saying what influenced our ideas and why we think they work.
Wednesday 10th December
Today we had four periods and first we had a meeting with our teacher to show we had reflected on our presentation and discussed what went well, what could have been changed and what we could improve on. As one of our points was to improve on having older characters we added 2 more characters which fitted in the storylines. We created character profiles for these characters.
We then made a mindshower of what we were going to include in out title sequence. After we started to storyboard out title sequence and i was happy with what we came up with as we all contributed to good ideas that would target our audience most effectively. The pictures on our storyboard were not the best but we managed to show what we wanted to!
We finished our storyboard by the end of period 3.
In period 4 we did some more research on regulation and conrtol and researched BARB, This was completed in the lesson and was stuck in my portfolio by fridays lesson.

Monday 8th December
1st & 2nd period...
Today we presented our Pitch to the class and teacher. I was pleased with our pitch and we received 13 out of 15 and a level 3! :)
Presentation.
We then relfected on our presentation including: What worked, What needs changing, What needs further research and what we will do next...
We agreed that our ideas were well researched and thorough. Our storylines and characters
fit together well and the characters can relate to them. Our team work worked well and the links between storylines make it realistic and effective.
We agreed that to improve we need to add a few older characters in order to make the characters ages varied.
What needs further research is the timing of the scenes and storylines as they need to fit in well in the 2 minutes.

Friday 5th December
In this singles lesson today we researched the genre and scheduling of programmes for the five terrestrial channels which we have researched: BBC1, BBC2, ITV1, Channel 4, and Channel 5.
This will help to decide what channel and time to broadcast my soap opera on to be the most effective as possible. This needs to be finished by monday.

Thursday 4th December
We had a single lesson today and our group completed most of our presentation for the pitch on monday. It was hard to decide about our title sequence as we hadnt really planned this stage yet, however we decided to base it on the Hollyoaks's title sequence as this is aimed at a young audience, like our soap. We will finish off the presentation over the weekend and run through it before mondays lesson.

Wednesday 3rd December
Today, we have completed quite a lot of work which i am pleased about. First, in period 1, i continued with my channel research. I have now completed BBC ONE, BBC TWO, ITV1 and Channel 4 so i started my research for channel 5. I hope to get this completed by Fridays lesson so all the channel research will be completed by then.
For 2nd, 3rd and 4th period we chose the location settings for our soaps. We then finished the character profiles as our final copy. We finalized the summaries of the 4 storylines we were going to use. We realized we needed to add two more characters than we planned to while writing the storylines. On top on this we managed to create the name for our soap opera.
We also started working on the presentation for our pitch on Monday 8th. We will continue this is tomorrows lesson.

Monday 1st December
Today we moved on to finalizing storyline ideas and started to create our character profiles. This was quite difficult as it was hard to make sure we used the right amount of characters and use different stereotypes but also fit in with the storylines. Also we had to think of exiting and realistic storylines which was hard as they had to intertwine with eachother and keep the audience intersted. Although it was difficult it was fun inventing characters and storylines. We will try and complete the character profiles by the end of wednesday.
I thought today was succesful as our group managed to complete a lot of work in the lessons.

Thursday 27th Novemeber
In todays lesson i completed my channel reserach for ITV1. I made sure the three channels i have completed research on sofar( BBC ONE, BBC TWO and ITV1) were all in neat and stuck in my portfolio. Also with my group we continued bringing our ideas together as a big mindshower. This is useful in pre-production as it brings all the group's ideas together so we can use the best ideas in our project such as the storylines, themes and characters.

Wednesday 26th November
We have begun the pre- production of our new project. We have a lot of work which has to be completed by the 17th of december, leaving us four weeks. In my group there is Hollie, Adam, Keeley and myself. We had a group disscussion about what we were going to be doing for the four lessons we had today. This was useful beacause it prepared us and kept us on task throughout the day, knowing what we wanted to acheive by the end of the lesson. We then began researching the five terrestrial channels; BBC ONE, BBC TWO, ITV1, Channel 4 and Channel 5 with Miss Barnnet. After we started our research on Codes and Conventions of soap. I reseached characters, Hollie researched Settings, Keeley researched Narrative and Adam researched Themes/Issues. With team work we managed to complete all the research we aimed to.

Work I have done so far...
The first project we had to do was capture a theme with a video camera and edit it into a 60 second clip capturing our theme. The theme i captured was lonliness.
For the next project we were introduced to moving image language. We worked with sound and edited the sound of the fight scene clip from the film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. We used the MAC computers to edit the sound and learned new skills.
For the following project we used shots from the Physco, shower scene and created a shower gel advert with these same images. The shots created a different meaning to the original physco and was interesting to see how we could change the meaning completely. This was one of the projects i enjoyed the most sofar and was happy with my result.
We then created a vox pop programme to show Job roles in the media industry. The programme was to appeal to year 9 students. My job roles were Television Editors and Storyboard Artist. We researched tyhe job roles, planned, scripted, and storyboarded the programme. We used characters to play the roles of these jobs and filmed the vox pops. We then edited the programme together.
The next project was to create a small section in an arts programme called 'Defining Britsh Soap'. We had to inform the audience about the history of british soap, Social realism, codes and conventiobns of soap and looking at weather Hollyoaks is a teen soap or drama. We created a detailed plan and schedule so we knew what ideas we were using and when we were doing each step in order to meet the deadline. We then scripted and storyboarded the programme. We filmed the vox pops for our programme. Finally we edited the film making it appealing for a mass audience. I learned that the editing process takes a lot of time and is a key part in the media process. Also planning and research is very important in order to complete the project as well as possible.
These projects were challenging but enjoyable and i feel like i have learned new skills and experienced the types of work in the media industry.
About the Creative Media Diploma..
The creative media diploma is an exciting and interesting new qualification for young people in England aged 14-19. It involves lots of practical work and really involves you in the subject including taking part in lots of fantastic projects. It teaches a variety of skills to do with the media industry. The areas looked at include film, music, writing and fashion.
